2. Constitution of the Philippines acknowledges importance of local
governments.
◦ Republic Act 7160 “Local Government Code”: to provide for a more
responsive and accountable local government instituted through a system
of decentralization, self- reliant communities and active partners in nation
building.
◦WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
1. Improved delivery of basic services such as providing medicines,
equipment and other essential supplies in government hospitals.
◦The people will be closer to the government.
◦Improved receptiveness of government people’s needs.

Group the students into 4 members each group. They will search for a community project of their
chosen barangay or the city through the social media accounts. They will download a photo of it
and print on 1 short coupon bond. Below the picture is a short discussion of the project. They
need to answer the questions:
1. Who is the proponent?
2. Who will benefit in this project?
3. What can you do as a student to make this happen?
4. Do you have other suggested projects that can be done?
