PATAN HPP-DETAILS OF INVESTIGATIONAL DRILLING
• Rotary core drilling at the sites of the main project structures. Drilling
recovered a total of 2,453.5m of 76mmΦ rock core from 19 boreholes, as
follows:
• 5 boreholes, including on in the river, along the preferred dam axis (PDH–
05, 06, 07, 08 & 10).
• 2 boreholes in the river at the upstream and downstream diversion
cofferdams (PDH–09 & 11).
• 3 boreholes on the left valley abutment on upstream alternative dam axes
(PDH-01, 02 & 03).
• 2 boreholes on the left abutment, upstream of the preferred dam axis at
the power intake (PDH-04 & PDH-04A).
• 2 deep boreholes high on the left abutment that drilled into the power
cavern (PDH-12 A & 13).
• 2 boreholes at the outfall portal of the tailrace tunnels (PDH-14 & 15).
• 3 boreholes through the Patan Fault Zone close to where it will be
crossed by the five tailrace tunnels (PDH-16, 17 & 18).
