Common Physical and Health Education Terms for Fitness Unit

● Cardiorespiratory endurance: the level at which your heart, lungs, and muscles work
together when you’re exercising for an extended period of time (how fit you are)

● Muscular endurance: ability of a muscle or group of muscles to sustain repeated


contractions against resistance for an extended period (how many reps you can do)

● Muscular strength: maximal amount of force that a muscle or group of muscles can generate
at one time (ex: how much you can lift)

● Flexibility: the ability of the muscles, ligaments, and tendons to elongate through a range of
motion
