WRITER’S PURPOSE

A writer uses two forms of narrative to fully deliver his purpose.

The first purpose is to narrate a real-life story or factual story and
the second, to share fictional narratives.
REAL LIFE OR FACTUAL STORY
What type of narrative story is a real life or factual story?

A factual story is one that is based on, and tries to be

faithful to, actual events as they unfolded in real life. A
real-life narrative can be descriptive, persuasive or
informative and each information must be factual.
FICTIONAL STORY
What type of narrative story is a fictional story?

A fictional narrative is a made-up story. Most novels

and short stories are fictional narratives. A fictional
story is not true and its aim is to entertain the readers.
The purpose of a narrative, whether fictional or factual, is
to tell a story. The elements of a narrative are plot,
characters who fill out the story and move the plot forward,
a conflict of some kind that must be addressed, and a
theme, which is usually made clear by how the main
conflict is resolved whether it be fictional or nonfictional,
In fictional narratives, those elements come from the
writer’s imagination
