Wipe the area where the needle will be inserted with a disinfectant swab. To ensure the sterility of the procedure 5. Insert the needle at 30-45 degree angle. To collect urine from the port, avoid through and through. 6. Unclamp the catheter let the urine flow from the catheter before collecting the specimen. Withdraw the required amount of urine To ensure an accurate collection of the urine 7. Transfer the urine to the specimen container. Placing the collected specimen in a right container ensure noncontamination of the specimen 8.Without recapping the needle, discard the syringe and needle in an appropriate sharps container.
