GOALS:
• Observe the changes in the weather before, during, and
after a typhoon
• Describe the effects of typhoons in the community
• Describe the effects of the winds, given a certain storm
warning signal
THREE MAJOR TYPES OF STORMS
A.TROPICAL CYCLONE
- a low-pressure area that forms in the
tropics over the seas and oceans
- It is called a hurricane if the cyclone has
sustained winds of 74 mph or greater in the
North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico
or in the eastern North Pacific Ocean.
How are Tropical Cyclones Classified?
A depression develops when rotating wind has a
maximum wind speed of not more than 60km/hr.
