Achievement and Development
A great deal of activity and excitement greeted the six-week in the
implementation of DepEd Catch Up Friday program as educators and
students continued to strive for academic success. The entire school
community was participating in the program, which sought to close the
learning gaps caused by the problems of the previous academic year.
The grade V students were
engaged in spirited group
discussions, practical exercises,
and dynamic instruction that
brought the material to life. The
kids participated in a variety of
activities, including word plays,
riddles, tongue twisters and
reading comprehension
exercises. To accommodate
students' diverse learning styles,
teachers combined traditional
teaching techniques with
innovative technology.
The Catch-Up Friday
Reading Initiative was a catalyst
for creating a lifetime love of
reading as well as an effective
instrument for improving
academic performance. Through
funding students' intellectual
growth, DepEd's effort prepared
the way for a more promising
and literate future.
Developing a true love of reading in students is one of the major
accomplishments of Catch-Up Fridays. One of the most important
achievements has been the change from thinking of reading as a chore
to a pleasant activity. Beyond their scholastic responsibilities, students
are now more likely to investigate a wide range of genres, authors, and
literary forms.

DepEd Catch-Up Fridays have had a

major effect on reading proficiency. Students'
reading levels and comprehension abilities
have improved measurably, according to pre-
and post-assessment data. Regular exposure
to a broad variety of reading materials has
increased critical thinking skills in addition
to vocabulary.

In conclusion, Fridays are fun days for the students since they get to play
while they study. DepEd Catch Up Friday is now a source of inspiration and
resiliency rather than just a technique to deal with setbacks. It provided
proof that education can overcome adversity and turn challenges into
opportunities for growth and success.
