CRITIQUE

EMPHASIZE
Importance given to
something
FOLKTALE
A story that is passed down orally
from generation to generation
IMPROVISE
To make up something
on the spot or to do the
best you can with what
is available
LEGEND
A story handed down
from earlier times
which is often based on
fact but is not entirely
true
MIMIC
To imitate someone else’s
speech or actions
MONOLOGUE
A long speech by one
person
MYTH
A story that expresses the
beliefs of a group of people,
tells about gods or
goddesses, or gives reasons
for something that happens
in nature
PANTOMIME

Telling a story with gestures, body


movements, and facial expressions rather
than words
PLOT
An element of drama--
the main events or
