The concept of a Net Force

What does it mean by a Net Force?


• It is a force that causes an object at rest to start moving.
• it is also a force that causes the object to stop.
• And change its direction.
• It is a vector sum or the resultant of all the forces acting on an object
or a system.

Normal Force

Friction
Tension

Weight
Superposition of Forces
• Any number of forces applied to a point on a body have the same
effect as a single force equal to the vector sum of the forces.
• The effect on the body’s motion is the same as if a single force R were
acting equal to the vector sum of the original forces.
