WHAT IS INFECTION?
Infectious diseases are called communicable diseases
while noninfectious diseases are called
noncommunicable diseases.
PATHOGENS
It is a microscopic organism that
invade the body. They are defected
by the body as harmful, resuling to
the activation of immune responses.
PATHOGENS
They can spread through contact
with infected person, an animal,
contamited objects or ingestion of
contaminated food. They can also
spread through water and air.

ACUTE RESPIRATORY
INFECTION
It is a condition which prevents people
from breathing normally. It is a viral
infection that affects the nose,
windpipe, or lungs.

• Watery eyes
• runny or stuffy nose
• sneezing
• coughing
• sore throat
PNEUMONIA
It is a term to describe the inflammation
of the lungs. Usual causes of pneumonia
are bacterial or viral infections.

• sweat
• fever and chills
• chest pain
• headache
• muscle ache
• nausea and vomiting
• green or blood stained-sputum
BRONCHITIS
It is an infection that causes the mucus membrane
lining to the bronchi or airways of the lungs to
become inflamed. Acute Bronchitis is usually due to
viral infection such as cold or flu.

Symptoms:
• Cough with plegm
• mild fever
• upper chest pain that worsens when coughing
INFLUENZA
Commonly known as the flu. It can be spread by
touching an infected person or contaminated surface or
by inhaling infected droplets.

• fever and chills
• headache
• sneezing
• sore throat
• muscle aches
TUBERCULOSIS
It is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium
tuberculosis and can be contracted when a person inhales
infected droplets that are sneezed or coughed into the air.
It can affect the bones and brain.

• slight fever
• night sweats
• weight loss
• muscle aches and chest pain
• shortness of breath
DENGUE FEVER
It is a viral infection transmitted through
the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes
infected with a dengue virus.

• nausea
