BORDERLINE

AND TITLE
BLOCK
Borderlines
A border is a line drawn around the inside edge
of the paper. It is basically a rectangle drawn
precisely and inside this rectangle is the design
area. The recommended Line weight for the
‘Drawing frame’ (Border) is 0.6 or 0.7mm. You
can also used HB pencil lead to draw the
border.
Title Block
A title block is normally drawn at the bottom or right
hand corner of the paper. It contains all the
information necessary to identify the drawing and to
verify its validity. The measurements for the title can
vary depending on the type of title block being used.
All the lines are dark with the exception of the
guidelines between which the printing is positioned.
Line weight is same as border.
Lettering Guidelines (Horizontal)
Not everyone has the ability to draw or write accurately
and neatly.
Guide lines can be used to help produce neat lettering
when drawing. These lines are drawn as extremely light
horizontal to regulate the height of lettering.
It is often difficult to erase these lines once the lettering is
complete, so use a good hard pencil and draw the lines so
that you can just see them.
Lettering (Text)
 Lettering should be either vertical or inclined.
 Use only uppercase (ALL CAPITAL LETTERS) lettering on the
drawing.
 Letters should be at least 3 to 4mm high.
 Make the letters clean-cut and dark. (0.3 – 05)
 Letter style must be “Single Stroke Vertical (or inclined)
Uppercase letters.
 Always ensure that your pencil is kept sharp when lettering.
