What is
kitchen
gardening?
Kitchen gardening refers to the
practice of growing fruits,
vegetables and herbs typically
in a small-scale setting near or
around one's home to reduce
reliance on commercially grown
crops that often involve
extensive transportation,
energy and resources.
Why Kitchen Gardening?
1)Health benefits:
Growing food under your supervision allows individuals to
have
control over the quality and freshness of their produce,
which can be more nutritious and flavorful than store
bought options that are full harmful chemicals and
pesticides.
2)Sustainability:
Kitchen gardens promote sustainability by providing fresh
produce at arm’s reach which reduces transportation and
distribution of food, minimizes package waste, saves you
money on grocery bill as well as decrease food waste
through targeted harvesting.
3)Enhances Mental Well-being:
Gardening can be taken as a hobby and has been shown to
reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Hence, it can be a
relaxing and therapeutic activity and an outlet for individuals
