On 2nd July 2017 an Urban Home Vegetable
Garden (BUG)model was developed for home
gardens in Bangkok with the concept of
pesticidefree agriculture. The objective of this
model was to evaluate the carbonfootprint
reduction from the vegetables produced
through the model. The resultsrevealed that
vegetables from the BUG model emitted
37.8% less kilograms ofcarbon dioxide than
commercial vegetables.
STATISTICS AND

On 29th January 2016, a study was
conducted to examine the urban home
gardens and evaluate their significance
towards household socio-economy in
Mekelle, Ethiopia. A total of
89 home gardens were randomly selected
with the land size of the home gardens
ranging from 50-500m2 . the results showed
that 99% of the assessed home gardens
were getting more environmental benefits,
fresher food and cash to support their
family.
