The Teacher has two communities:

1. Teaching Community.
2. Community outside the
school.
Teaching Community

– It consists of his/her fellow

teachers, colleagues and
superiors.
Community outside the school

– Includes the parents of his/her

learners, local officials,
alumni/alumnae and other
members of the society in which
the school is located.
NCBTS stand for?
 NATIONAL COMPETENCY BASED
TEACHER STANDARDS (NCBTS)

– is an integral theoretical framework that defines

the different dimensions of effective teaching,
where effective teaching means being able to help
all types of student learn the different learning
goals in the curriculum.
PPST stand for?
PHILIPPINE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
FOR TEACHERS (PPST)

– is a public statement of what teachers need to

know, value, and be able to do in their practice.
 HOW NCBTS ADOPTED/USED?
• As a guide on their current teaching practices
• As a framework for creating new teaching
practices
• As a guidepost for planning and professional
development goals
As a common language for discussing teaching
practices with other teachers
 HOW PPST ADOPTED/USED?
• It shall be used as a basis for all learning and
development programs for teachers to ensure that
teachers are properly equipped to effectively
implement the K to 12 Program.
• Can also be used for the selection and
promotion of teachers.

Yes. This happens upon the signing into policy of
DepEd Order No. 42, S. 2017 on the National Adoption
and Implementation of the Philippine Professional
Standards for Teachers which ammended the DepEd
Order No. 32, S. 2009.
