ACTIVITY
1. Read the following illustrated
professions.
2. Choose 5 professions on the list that
you are familiar with.
3. Identify the skill/s needed for the 5
chosen professions and write them down
on a clean sheet of paper.
Processing Questions:

1. How do you feel about the activity?


2. Which of the career options listed do you
dream for your future?
3. From the list of skills that you have written
down which do you personally have? Do they
match your career option?
Children like you dream of becoming somebody in
the future. Whichever profession or career you
would want to have will require you to have
certain skills. Skills are what people can do best.
Skills can improve by learning through gaining
knowledge, training, and practice. Some skills that
are needed in most of the career include working
with your hands; working with machines and
tools; working with people;
building and fixing things; solving problems and
puzzles; organizing things and ideas; and caring
for family and home. You have unique skills that
you can improve further and develop the others
that are needed in the career you really want to
have in the future. To increase your chance of
success, it is good to think seriously of what you
want as a profession or career in the future.
This is called career decision making. In
doing this, there are people who can help
you, like your parents, teachers, guidance
counselors, relatives, and others.
Career Decision Making Steps

1. Know what you have and what you need. Be


sure you know your own interest, skills, values,
experiences, and available people and resources
which could help you on some future careers.
Know also who can support you and what you will
need ahead.
2. Seek help from your parents or significant
adults. Gather information about careers you
might want. Ask your parents and significant
others, read books, watch TV, or browse the
internet about things you want to know about the
nature of work and functions of people in certain
professions or vocations.
3. Decide what you want to be. Narrow down your
options. Know what the good and bad side will be
if you decide to take on each of the career options
in the future. Discuss your option to adults in like
family, teachers, counselors, or others. They may
be able to give more information that would help
you at this point.
ACTIVITY
1. The graph below are some of the skills needed
in almost all professions/career options.
2. Decide which skill you think you possess
already from the given examples.
3. Write down the letters corresponding the skills
you think you possess on a clean sheet of paper
4. Write down other skills that you have which are
not found in the checklist if there are any.
Processing Questions:
1. What did you feel while doing the activity?
2. what did you found out with the activity?
3. Do you think that your skills match your
career option from the previous activity?
How are they related?
ACTIVITY
On the first column, write down your
chosen profession. On the second column,
list down the skills that you possess which
are needed in your chosen profession.
Finally, think of additional skills that you
will need to achieve your chosen
profession. Write your answers on the
third column.
ACTIVITY
Write an essay by answering the following
questions:
- Why is it important to think about your
future career?
- With the given skills that you possess based
on the previous activities, what skill will help
you most in achieving your career?
