WHAT IS PUBLIC SPEAKING
• It is an act of speaking to a group of people in a structured and intentional manner.
Understand who your audience is and tailor your message to their interest,
knowledge, and expectations.
Identify the purpose of your speech. Choose if you are informing, persuading,
entertaining, or inspiring.
3. STRUCTURE YOUR SPEECH.
Organize your speech into a clear and logical structure, including an introduction, body, and
conclusion.
3.1 INTRODUCTION.
Grab the audience’s attention, state your point, and preview what you will cover.
3.2 BODY.
It should present your main ideas in a logical sequence with supporting evidence.
3.3 CONCLUSION.
Rehearse your speech multiple times and familiarize yourself with the content and improve
the delivery.
• Pay attention to your body language, facial expressions, and gestures. Maintain good
posture and make purposeful movements.
• Use eye contact to connect with your audience. Avoid staring at notes or the floor or the
ceiling.
6. VARY YOUR VOICE.
Modulate your voice to add emphasis, express enthusiasm, and maintain the audience’s
interest.
7. USE VISUAL AIDS WISELY.
Ensure the slides are clear, concise, and complement your message.
8. ENGAGE YOUR AUDIENCE.
Encourage interactions through questions or thought-provoking statements.
