PROTOCOL
• 1. A charm as an asset to a person who
makes a continues practice of kind
impuses.
• 2. A code of ethics which is also known as
the “Code of a Gentlemen”.
• 3. Decency – means not merely propriety
of speech and conduct, but honesty and
trustworthiness in every obligation.

• Self-Respect among many other things,
means refusal to accept obligations that
one is unwilling to return.
• Loyalty – means faithfulness not only to
friends but also to principles.
• Place of Honor – When midshipmen
walks, he takes position abreast and to the
left of his superiors / seniors.

• Protocol dictates that superiors / seniors
should be the first person to offer hand
shake or gesture of acknowledgement, not
the reverse.
• Chain of Command – he does not consult
anyone higher than his immediate superior
without first given authority by him to do
so.

• Salute – the most important form of
courtesy as an exchange of greetings to
all personnel in the institution.
A lousy salute is considered to be
more discourteous than a failure to salute
itself.
DEVELOPMENT OF
MIDSHIPMEN’S CHARACTER
• 1. Acceptance of Responsibility –
discharge the responsibilities of their
assigned tasks or positions to the best of
their ability, are accountable for, and
accept the consequences of their acts.
• 2. Setting an Example – must set a good
example for subordinate to emulate in
appearance, bearing, performance of duty
and personal conduct.

• 3. Duty – sense of obligation which
motivates to do, to the best of their ability
what is expected of them in any position.
• 4. Esprit-de-Corps – a mental state of an
individual members represents a feelings
of belongingness.
