- The center mark is the shortest line on the
court that divides the baseline in half and runs
perpendicular to the net.

- The service line runs parallel to the net and
marks roughly the halfway point between the
net and the baseline.
Center Service Line: 42 ft (12.80 m) long
- The center service line runs perpendicular to

II. LIGHTING RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Lighting Standards
According to the European Standard for Sports Lighting (EN 12193:2008), tennis
court lighting is classified into 3 levels:
- Class I: Top national and international level competitions (non-televised).
Requirements for spectators, potentially long viewing distances.
- Class II: Medium level competitions such as regional or local club tournaments.
Moderate numbers of spectators, average viewing distances. High-level training
may also be included.
- Class III: Low-level competitions, small club tournaments. No spectators. Training,

III. INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Lighting Poles Position
- It is recommended to use sharp cut off luminaires, with accurate light output
control, mounted on columns; for a single court, mounting height between 8 and
12 m is generally appropriate to achieve the above conditions.
29

1. Lighting Poles Position

- Using two to four column positions on both of the longitudinal sides, depending
on the required quality of the lighting system.

Typical mast layout for outdoor courts.
