PRESBYOPIA

• A gradual, age-related loss of the eyes' ability to focus actively on nearby objects.
• Farsightedness usually becomes noticeable in the early- to mid-40s and worsens until around the
age of 65.
Myopia, most commonly known as nearsightedness, impedes your ability to see distant objects
clearly, while presbyopia, frequently referred to as age-related farsightedness, hampers your clear
vision of nearby objects.
• There is no way to stop or reverse the normal aging process that causes presbyopia.
However, presbyopia can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery. People who have
trouble seeing both near and far may benefit from progressive lenses. ( In the future, presbyopia
may be treated with eye drops.)
