Learning objectives:
1.illustrate the REPAETING permutation
2.solve problem involving REPEATING
permutation objects: and
3.apply in a real-life situation.
repeating PERMUTATIONS
Repeating Permutation of orderings of n objects taken r at a time, with
repetition or replacement, or a set of n objects of which p are alike,
q are alike, s are alike and so on, is given by:

Where, P is the total number of permutations

n is the total number of objects in the set
r is the total number of choosing objects in the set.
p! is the 1st repeated objects
q! is the 2nd repeated objects
s! is the 3rd repeated objects
And permutation is similar to distinguishable permutation.
example
TOOTH
n= 5 r=5 p! =2 q! =2

∴Wecan rangeth let rsinthewordTO Hin30diferntordes.

APPLE
n= 5 r=5 p! =2

∴We can range the lters in the word AP LE in60difernt ordes.

PROBLEM-
SOLVING
PROBLEM-SOLVING
1. How many different 6-digit numerals can be written using the
following 7 digits? Assume the repeated digits are all used. (3 3 4 4 4
5 6).
n= 7
r=6
p! =2
q! =3

There are 420 6-digit numerals that can be written using the 7
digits.
PROBLEM-SOLVING
2. How many different 5-digit numerals can be written using the
following 9 digits? (2, 2, 2, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9).

n= 9 =
r=5
p! =3
q! =2
s! =3
There are 210 5-digit numerals that can be written using
the 9 digits.
activity time:
Warm that mind up!
A. Find the number of permutations with repetition of the
letters in each word.

a. REFERENCE

n= 9
r=9
p! =2
q! =4

There are 7,560 ways letters can be arranged in the word

REFERENCE.
b. How many different 6-digit numerals can be written using
the following 12 digits? (1, 1, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9)

n= 12 ==
r=6
p! =2
q! =5
s! =2
t! =3

There are 231 6-digit numerals that can be written using

the 12 digits.
The importance of repetition until
automaticity cannot be overstated.
Repetition is the key to real
learning.
