“Qualitative analysis of community RO plant for developing

mitigation strategy with emphasis on membrane fouling”

SUPERVISOR SUBMITTED BY
Dr. A.B. GUPTA ABHISHEK SOTI
Professor, Civil Engineering (2017PCE5239)
Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur
OBJECTIVE

 To increase the performance of RO plant and make the

cost effective operation by removing multiple
contaminants.
 To understand the overall performance decline of RO plant
by membrane autopsy (most efficient and effective way of
characterising the membrane foulants)

Results of FTIR

• Peaks at 1405 cm-1 in finger print region is of NH2

Amide-II group
• Peaks near 3312 cm-1 of N-H stretching (Amines)
• Peaks near 1560 cm-1 of N-H bend (Amines primary)
• Peaks in range 2800-3000 of alkane group ( H-C-H
symmetric and asymmetric stretch )
• Peaks near 1650 cm-1, 1147 cm-1, 1151 cm-1, 1738 cm-

Future work

 To identify the crystalline phases present in a material and

chemical composition information with XRD results.
 Cross verification of chromium and other elements with ion-
chromatography
 Leather industries of bharthapur is responsible or not for this
chromium.
