Introduction
Introduction
Shein is a fast fashion, Chinese-based apparel retailer. It is another
merchant that copies well-known designs at a low cost and sells them at a
lower price. Their products are mainly cheap and low-quality clothing.

However, a lot of buyers have expressed dissatisfaction as the item they

receive is totally different from the online image. This shows that their
customer service is really poor

Shein’s labor practices include child and forced labor. They subject
workers to long hours of work with wages that barely make anyone
survive.

Identifying and stating the facts o
the problem
Identifying the problem

Shein workers work seven days a week, some getting a base salary of only
$556 per month to make 500 pieces of clothing per day. In total, that
equates to earning two cents per item of clothing produced. At some
factories, female employees washed their hair over their lunch break due
to having no time to do so after their 18-hour-long work days.

There are some workers that ask for help through the tags on the clothes
that they produce. They write messages such as “Need your help” and
other messages like that
Stating the facts

Workers are the main people affected by their employers’ actions. They
suffer from very low wages with very long working hours that women
sometimes wash their hair on their breaks as they don’t have the time to
do so at home.

Shein as a company is also affected because that affects their reputation

and it might lose a lot of customers

Alternative solutions and weighin
them
Alternative Solutions
1) Workers should not go to work for shein until they change their
emloyment strategies

2) Shedding light on the topic of forced and exploited labour so

workers know their rights and keep their dignity

3) Exposing shein on social media and other communication

channels so that people boycott them until they change their
ways with their employees
Pros and Cons of each solution
1- Pros: Shein can’t produce without workers so they’ll have to pay
them more in order to start business again. Cons: Workers won’t
have a source of income until that happens or shein might just refuse
and find other people willing to do the work for the little money

2- Pros: Workers will know their value and agree to work under
certain conditions that are safe. Cons: This might not reach every
worker and some workers need the money so bad they’ll be willing
to work in these condiotions
Pros and Cons of each solution
3- Pros: Raising awareness about what shein does and people stop
buying from them until they fix their problem. Cons: People might
still buy because they are cheap. They also can ignore all of this and
not care about what is being said about them.

Picking a solution
Picking a solution
We chose solution number three which is exposing them on social media
and the news because it raises awareness so people will stop buying from
them. Even though there are disadvantages to this solution such as people
still buying because shein is cheaper but it is the most suitable solution.
Workers will also feel that they have rights when they feel supported so
they’ll speak up.
