IONIZATION EQUILIBRIUM OF GLYCYLGLYCINE

Laboratory of Physical Chemistry

Working Group: PL2_G6_03 Luís Manuel Belchior and Carlos Filipe Lima

AIM /Scope
PHYSCHEMLab #03

The objective of this work is to study the ionization balance of diprotic acid (glycylglycine) using potentiometry and conductimetry.

Methodologies & Application

• Firstly, three NaOH titration tests were carried out.
• After, the titration of Glycylglycyl Chloride was carried out. As the titrant
(NaOH) was added, the pH and electrical conductivity were recorded.

• With the NaOH titration, it was possible to conclude that the concentration of
NaOH solution was 0,1036 M. Figure 2 – pH and K versus the volume of NaOH.
• Analyzing the pH and K versus the volume of NaOH, the titration curve is lined
with expectations for a titration of a weak diprotic acid with a strong base, 1st derivative
