WHO IS PAUO FRIERE?
-He is a Brazilian educationalist and
philosopher.
- He has the radical ideas about pedagogical,
learning and knowledge led to the
establishment of critical pedagogy
movement.

FRIERE’S PHILOSOPHY
1. Education for Liberation
-he believe that education should not be a one way
transmission of knowledge from teacher to student.

2. Problem-posing Education
- he advocated for a “problem posing” approach to
education, where teachers and students co-create knowledge through
dialogue and critical inquiry.
3. Dialogue and Critical Consciousness
- he emphasized the importance of dialogue as a means to develop
critical consciousness among learners

4. Praxis
-he believed in the intention of theory and practice, what he
termed “praxis”.
-he believed that learning occurs when theory is applied to a real-
word situations.

5. Contextualization and empowerment


-he emphasized the importance of understanding education within
its socio-political context.
