Meaning Of E-Governance

E-governance, or electronic governance, refers to the use


of information technology, particularly the Internet and
digital communication tools, to enhance and streamline
the delivery of government services, information, and
communication to citizens.

 In simple words, it involves using electronic means to


make government processes more efficient, accessible,
and transparent, ultimately improving the interaction
between the government and the public.

Types of E-Governance
G2C (Government-to-Citizen):
This model focuses on providing government services directly to citizens through
online platforms. Examples include online tax filing, application submissions,
and accessing public information.

G2B (Government-to-Business):
In this model, the government uses electronic means to interact with businesses.
It includes services like online business registration, permit applications, and e-
procurement.
G2G (Government-to-Government):
This model involves the use of technology for communication and exchange of
information between different government departments and agencies. It aims to
enhance collaboration, data sharing, and coordination.

G2E (Government-to-Employee):
This model focuses on providing services to government employees, such as
online human resources management, payroll systems, and employee training
programs.
C2G (Citizen-to-Government):
In this model, citizens actively participate by providing feedback, filing
complaints, or engaging in online forums. Social media platforms are often
utilized for this type of interaction.

M-Governance (Mobile Governance):


This type of e-governance involves the use of mobile devices for accessing
government services and information. Mobile apps and SMS services are
commonly employed for this purpose.
