WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE

WORD “SHIFT”?
SHIFT IT!
1 THESSALONIANS 5:15 (NLT)

“See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do
good to each other and to all people.”
1. AVOID OFFENDING BACK

“See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to
do good to each other and to all people.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
• God does not want us to fight back. Remember that the Lord will always fight for
you. It is said on Exodus 14:14, “The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay
calm.”
• Whenever we feel like taking revenge on someone, we ought to reflect on the grace
and kindness Jesus showered on us in spite of the offenses we committed against Him.
2. GET OPPORTUNITIES, NOT CLOSURES

“See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to
do good to each other and to all people.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
• Find other opportunities to avoid the worst case scenario which is the “revenge”. The
Lord does not want you to revenge. Forgive each other and even bless each other.
Praying for revenge to other people will lead you to closure of opportunities that God
may be giving you soon.
• Although each of us had offended Jesus, He died for us, forgave us, and gave us
everlasting life.
ROMANS 12:17-19 (NLT)

“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right
in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on
you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear
friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is
mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.”

GOD IS PLEASED TO THOSE WHO PROMOTE PEACE,

NOT REVENGE.
REFLECTION

WHY SHOULD I NOT TAKE REVENGE AND

LEAVE IT ONLY TO GOD? WHAT COULD
BE THE REWARD OF SHIFTING REVENGE
TO FORGIVENESS OR ANYTHING THAT IS
PLEASING TO THE LORD?
