Criminal law refers to the body of law that
deals with crimes….
crimes-means any unlawful act or condact
that attract a punishment/penel punishment .
Criminal provide list of crimes and their
respective punshment section 196 on penal
code.eg of criminal law inTanzania is penal code
cap 16 R.E 2022.
PURPOSE OF CRIMINAL LAW.
1.Deterence-this aim at descouranging criminal behavior
to both offender and the public at large.order to discourage criminal
law impose a sever punshment eg.death penalt ,life imprisonment or
corpal punishment.
2.Rehebilitation-aim at reforming
the mind of an offender from being a criminal to a good citizen the
primary goal of rehabilitation is to prevent futher offence/crimes by
convincing the offender that their conducts were wrong though
rehabilitation is trained different economical activities and social that
after released must be a good citizen.
Incapaciatation-tis
means keeping away
the criminal to the
society.
Retibution-this intend to srike a
balance the interest btn victim and
offender though imposing a
punshiment which is propotion to
the offence commited.
