Krakatau is a larger island at Sumatra and

Java. Krakatau has a height of 813 m (2667
feet). This mountain was erupted in 1883, and
became the largest eruption. The Krakatau
Island are located in South Lampung, Sumatra.
Krakatoa lies along the convergence of the
Indian-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates,
a zone of high volcanic and seismic activity.
Description
Krakatau was quiet until December 1927.
Within weeks, the rim of a new cone appeared
above sea level. Within a year, it grew into a
small island, which was named Anak Krakatau, or
Child of Krakatau. Anak Krakatau has continued
to erupt periodically, although mildly and the
cone has continued to grow to an elevation of
about 1,000 feet (300 metres) above the sea.
The last eruption was on Desember 2018.
Description
Volcanic activity is due to subduction of
the Indo-Australian tectonic plate as it moves
northward toward mainland Asia. The
eruption has been assigned a rating of 6 on
the Volcanic Explosion Index and is estimated
to have had the explosive force of 200
megatons of TNT.
