LARYNGITIS
• Occurs when the when the mucous membrane of the larynx becomes
inflammed and swollen from the infection or irritation from inhaled
vapors.
• It is usually mild but may be dangerous if swollen tissues obstruct the
airway and interfere with breathing.
CAUSES OF LARYNGITIS
• Voice abuse
• Exposure to irritants such as smoke of cigarettes
•
PREDISPOSING FACTORS OF LARYNGITIS
.People who smoke
• People with respiratory infections such as cold
• Singers
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF LARYNGITIS
• Hoarseness (complete loss of voice)
• Severe or dry cough
• Sore throat
• Runny nose
• Dry throat
NURSING MANAGEMENT OF LARYNGITIS
• Moisten the throat; Also drinking warm fluids can moisten the larynx and
reduce irritation
• Resting the voice; Avoid speaking for extended periods of time so that the
vocal cords may heal

INDICATIONS
• People with sore throat
• People with cough
• People with throat irritants
CONTRAINDICATIONS OF THROAT LOZENGES
• Heart disease
• People with breathing problems (asthma)
SIDE EFFECTS
• Itching
• Headache
• Nausea and vomiting
• Weakness and fatigue

INDICATIONS
• People with inflammatory disorder
• Dysmenorrhea(menstrual cramps)
CONTRAINDICATIONS
• Hypersensitivity patients
• Pregnant women
• Diabetes Mellitus

• Dizziness
• Stomach pain
• Heartburn
