• Did you know that that the
New 7 Wonders of the
World were announced on
July 7th, 2007? Since 2007,
the New Seven Wonders of
the World are:
1) Chichen Itza (Mexico),
2) Christ the Redeemer
statue (Brazil),
3) the Colosseum (Italy),
4) the Great Wall of China
(China),
5) Machu Picchu (Perú),
6) Petra (Jordan)
7) and the Taj Mahal
(India).
• The Colosseum is an oval amphitheatre in the centre
of the city of Rome, Italy. It is the largest ancient
amphitheatre ever built, and is still the largest
standing amphitheatre in the world today.

Colosseum • The Colosseum could hold an estimated 50,000 to


80,000 spectators at various points in its
history having an average audience of some 65,000;
it was used for gladiatorial contests and
public spectacles including animal hunts, and
dramas based on Roman mythology,
• the Colosseum is still an iconic symbol of
Imperial Rome and was listed as one of the
New 7 Wonders of the World. It is one of Rome's
most popular tourist attractions.
• Machu Pichu means “old mountain” in the Quechua
language. it was built in the 14th century and was
ruled by the Incas.
• This is one of the 7 wonders of the world, an
ancient site that has been abandoned since the
Machu Picchu 16th century. This archeological site is known for its
excellent planning of city with interconnected
resources and is known as the Lost City of the Incas.
• This is one of the 7 wonders of the world because it
is built in the Inca style of architecture which is
unique and one of its kind in the world. This is one
of the most important UNESCO world heritage sites
that is located in Peru, in South America.
• The Maya name "Chichen Itza" means "At the
mouth of the well of the Itza."
• Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by
Chichen the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period. The
archeological site is located in Yucatan State, Mexico

There are many temples and pyramids in Chichen


Itza. Tourists, or visitors, were once able to climb
some of the pyramids, but it was quite challenging
because the steps are very steep and small.
• It is also known as “El Castillo” (Spanish for castle).
