Drill: Achieved!

In lieu of Deped Memorandum No. 53 Series 2022 on the Mandatory


Unannounced Earthquake and Fire Drills in Schools, Sariaya East Central Main
Elementary School aimed to achieve the safety of the learners, teaching and non-
teaching staff in the learning community. The primary objective of the fire drill
conducted on February 6, 2024 was to ensure the readiness and efficiency of the
pupils, teaching and non- teaching staff and stakeholders in responding to a fire
emergency. The drill aimed to assess the effectiveness of evacuation procedures,
communication protocols, and overall preparedness in the event of a fire.

Prior to the drill,


teaching and non-teaching staff
were briefed about the
objectives, procedures, and
expectations. Fire alarms were
checked to ensure proper
functionality and evacuation
routes were reviewed by staffs.
The fire drill commenced
promptly at the designated time
and place .
Upon activation of
the fire alarm, pupils and staff
followed predetermined
evacuation routes and
assembled at designated
assembly points outside the
building and evacuated the
premises calmly and swiftly,
guided by teachers along
evacuation routes.
Attendance was
taken to ensure all individuals
exited the building safely.
Communication channels were
tested during the drill including
speakers and microphone
announcements and visual
signals. Safety officers
demonstrated effective
coordination in guiding the pupils
and ensuring orderly evacuation.
Following the drill, a
debriefing session and
demonstration of using fire
extinguisher was conducted to
assess the overall performance.

pupils, teachers, and
stakeholders to identify

The conducted fire drill provided valuable


insights into the school's preparedness and response
capabilities in the event of a fire emergency. Overall,
while commendable, there are areas for improvement
identified, which will be addressed through ongoing
training and preparedness initiatives Rest assured, the
school remains committed to ensuring the safety and
well-being of its learners, teaching and non-teaching
staff through regular drills and proactive measures.
