What is psychology?
Psychology - is a science that studies mental
phenomena, human behavior and investigates
explanations to them.
Psychological Literature
• First examples appeared in the works of
Ancient Greeks
• Presents the information on the nature of
perception, the structure of the psyche, the
nature of emotions, psychosomatics, the
nature of relationships, thought processes,
nature of dreams and delusions.
• Is influenced by medicine, pedagogy, art,
religion, politics, management
• Appeared due to the evolution of psychology
• Its rapid development began in the 18th
century.
• Most of its authors: psychologists, journalists,
pedagogues, writers, self-trained people

• The psychic (or we can also call it the mental)
is still “terra incognita” for scientific
knowledge
• Psychological literature is constantly becoming
a space of speculation and mystification by
charlatans. It is highly important to filter the
flow of books related to the psychological
literature and be convinced of the accuracy of
the information presented
Generally psychological literature is being
written for two branches of psychology:
• Applied psychology - which focuses on the
application of psychological knowledge in specific
fields of activity (music, political psychology,
psychology of education, relationship or work)
• Practical psychology - which is a field of knowledge
and research on the forms and methods of using
psychological knowledge by psychologists
(consultants, trainers).
