Product Introduction
1.1 Antimony trioxide ( Sb2O3 )
CAS NO. : 1309-64-4
Molecular formula : O3Sb2
Molecular weight : 291.52
Structural formula:

Antimony trioxide, also called antimony white, has the formula Sb203 with a structure
dependant on the temperature. It is used as a flame retardant, pigment, and catalyst.
Antimony trioxide is mainly produced via the smelting of stibnite ore, which is oxidized
to crude Sb203 using furnaces operating at approximately 850 to 1,000 °C.
1.2 Product Specification:

1.3 Market Size:
1.4 Main Manufacturers:
Production Process
1. Raw material preparation:
Antimony ore is crushed and ground
to obtain antimony powder.

2. Oxidation reaction: React

antimony powder with oxygen
to generate antimony oxide.
The reaction can be carried out
at high temperatures, usually
using an antimony oxide
furnace. The chemical 3. Refining: Heat antimony oxide and
equation of the reaction is: 4Sb reducing agent (such as coal or
+ 3O2 -> 2Sb2O3. charcoal) together to perform a
reduction reaction to obtain pure
antimony trioxide. The chemical
equation of the reduction reaction is:
2Sb2O3 + 3C -> 4Sb + 3CO2.
4. Purification: The obtained
antimony trioxide may also
contain impurities and needs
to be purified. Commonly
used methods include
leaching, dissolution, etc.
5. Grinding: Grind the purified
antimony trioxide to obtain the
required particle size.

6. Packaging: Put the crushed

antimony trioxide into appropriate
packaging containers for storage
and sales.
Product Property
4.1 Physical Properties
Antimony trioxide has a melting point of 630°C, a boiling point of 1,635°C, and a relative density of
6.7. Like most metals, it is virtually insoluble in water and organic solvents but can be dissolved in
royal water.

Other Characteristics
Antimony trioxidehas the following characteristics:
 White crystalline powder;
 Irritating;
 Slightly soluble in water, dilute nitric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric
acid, sulfuric acid, alkali solution, etc.
4.2 Use of the product:
Flame retardant
It is used for flame retardant of modified
plastics, cable materials, mining pipes,
plastic-coated cloth, artificial leather and
other plastic products. It can withstand
high temperatures and fire, making it a
reliable fireproof material.
White pigment
Used as white pigment in the paint
and coatings industry.
Glass additives
Antimony trioxide is a glass additive used to increase the
antioxidant properties and hardness of glass. The ability to
shield radiation can be improved in certain types of glass,
including clear X-ray tubes and protective glasses.
Catalyst
It is also used as a catalyst for
organic synthesis and a
synthetic metal passivator.
Medicinal uses
Antimony trioxide has a wide range of
medicinal uses. It is commonly used as a
treatment for cirrhosis, liver cancer, and certain
types of epilepsy. In addition, antimony
trioxide can be used in the preparation of
certain mineral supplements.
Package
Packed in 25kg/bag, 1000kg/pallet. There are also 500kg/bag and 1000kg/bag package.
Other packaging can be customized according to customer requirements.
