Content and Form

Michael Bosanko In the image, the art work shows me the process and function of light painting and creation using
light trails. In the picture, I can see a sunset background, which is fairly dark, with dark features of
the trees. I can also see two skeleton figures kissing/hugging in the foreground of the image. The
size of these skeletons take up the whole focal point of the image as they are illuminating in the
dark environment around them. In the image, my eye is drawn to the two skeletons and the
contrast between the red and blue color. In the image, I feel what might of happened is the artist
Michael Bosanko has used light trails in his image to draw in the camera lens the skeletons.

In the image, the most important element that I see is color, what I see in the image that gives me
this idea is quite evidentially the colorful skeleton created in the image by the artist. I can see in
the image, the combination of color used has been red and blue. With this, we can relate it back to
the opposite color theory (google what theory is!!!) because the red and blue compliment and
contrast each other. Light has been used in the image by the light painting sculptures. And has also
been used with the small dots of colour around the skeletons, I think the artist has done this
purposefully but not intentual because it shows the imperfection of the image and the raw bits of
the image. It has also been used with the background as the sunset is a darker shade of light. If I
could reach my hand out and touch parts of the artwork, I feel I would feel the cold leaves on my
hand and I would feel the the fast movement of the light brushing past my hand.
 Process and Mood
I think the materials used to make this image would be a camera for starters, and a tripod to
Michael Bosanko reduce camera shake movement. Additionally, I think the artist has used either light painting
torches, or some sort of light wand to easily create the images and capture the whole
movement on the detailed skeleton. I think this image took atleast an hour to create, due to the
shutterspeed being extremely slow and having a while to take the image first off. Then we have
to consider the time the artist may of spent editing to make the background darker so the
structure pops and stands out. I defenitly think the artist used source materials due to the
interrect detail of the skeletons, also I think the artist would of had to see first off how long it
takes to create the skeletons, and then weigh it out to how long the shutterspeed should be.
Then I feel the artist would have had to do illustrations to see how he digitally wants to see. If I
was making this piece of work, I would start by planning out what I wanted to draw, then buying
my supplies and setting them up, eg: light wand, trip, camera and atmosphere. I think this
image would take me possibly an hour or more to take and create, then maybe another hour to
create the final piece and edit due to me wanting to make sure it looks perfect.

My personal reponse to this image is very emotionless. With this image I feel no emotion to it.
But, it does create a euphoric mood due to the unusual sighting of the image and it not typically
being seen. The image successfully communicates a story and meaning, I feel this meaning is to
do with soulmates. I think that the concept of soulmates, and the idea that if they are your
soulmate, you will love, comfort and see each other even after you’ve died.
