Elements of the music
• Timbre: the characteristic sound of an instrument, sound or
ensemble
• Tempo : the speed of a musical composition
• Dynamics: it refers to the volume of a sound or note.
• Pitch: the pitch of a note means how high or low the note is.
• Duration: is the length of time a pitch, or tone, is sounded.
• Structure: describes how the different sections in a piece of
music are positioned together to form the composition.

Task 1: Look for information: Basic
concepts in Music
• What is the difference between music and noise?
• What are the elements of the music? Research about each one
of them.
• Notes, note values and musical scales in the western music.
• How many and what’s the name of each one of the different
groups of musicians?
• How many musical periods did we have from 1150 until
nowadays? Name a role model from each one of the periods.
