OUTDOOR RECREATION
• can be defined as “outdoor activities that
take place in a natural setting, as opposed to
a highly cultivated or managed landscape
such as a playing field or golf course”
(tourism bc, 2013, p. 47).
OUTDOOR RECREATION
• This term is typically applied to outdoor
activities that individuals engage in and that
are located close to their community.
RECREATION
• can be defined as the pursuit of leisure
activities during one’s spare time (Tribe,
2011) and can include vastly different
activities such as golfing, sport fishing, and
rock climbing.
THE MOST POPULAR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
AMONG THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE:
• Running, biking, camping, fishing, walking and hiking.
• Hunting
• Canoeing, kayaking and rafting
• Sailing and motorboating
• Biking
• Rock Climbing
• Horseback riding
• Skiing
• Restoration and conservation volunteering
WHAT IS STRESS?
• Stress is a feeling you get when faced with
a challenge. In small doses, stress can be
good for you because it makes you more
alert and gives you a burst of energy.

• Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical
tension. It can come from any event or
thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry,
or nervous.
WHAT IS STRESS?
• Stress is your body's reaction to a challenge
or demand. In short bursts, stress can be
positive, such as when it helps you avoid
danger or meet a deadline.
WHAT CAN I DO TO BETTER MANAGE
STRESS?
• In general, stress is related to both external and
internal factors.
 External factors include your physical
environment, your job, relationships with others,
your home, and all the situations, challenges,
difficulties, and expectations you're confronted with
on a daily basis.
WHAT CAN I DO TO BETTER MANAGE
STRESS?
 Internal factors determine your body's ability to
respond to and deal with, the external stress-inducing
factors.
 Internal factors that influence your ability to handle
stress include your nutritional status, overall health and
fitness levels, emotional wellbeing, your ability to control
stress through relaxation techniques or other strategies,
and the amount of sleep and rest you get.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES THAT CAN HELP TO
RELIEVE STRESS ARE:
1. Learn to apply a relaxation skill and Meditation techniques that
you adopt as your own, when the first signs of stress developed.
2. Time manage
3. Organizational skills
4. Support systems
5. Exercise
6. Develop an awareness of your stress reaction and its early signs.
7. Master abdominal breathing techniques.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES THAT CAN HELP TO
RELIEVE STRESS ARE:
8. Expose yourself to simulated stressors (stressful situations) so
that you can practice your skills in real-life situations.
9. Make some routinary program using audiotaped relaxation.
10. Practice transferring stress management skills to real-life
situations.
11. Develop behavioral strategies to prevent stress reactions
12. Change the situation or change your reaction to it.
13. Change Your Attitude.
14. Accept the things you cannot change.
