RISING ACTION

EXPOSITION RESOLUTION

It was developed by Gustav Freytag, a German novelist and playwright in the mid-19th century.
Exposition (Introduction)
Dodong was fully decided to marry
Taeang and intended to tell it to his
father...
Rising Action
• The rising action of the story was when Dodong was about to tell his
father about his decision of marrying Teang. The conflicts were Man
vs. Himself (Dodong vs. himself) when Dodong was confused about
his choice as soon as his father asked him if he must marry. And the
other conflict is Man vs. Man (Dodong vs. his father) when Dodong
and his father had a discussion about Dodong’s age and that Dodong is
still too young to get married.
Climax
The climax comes with the birth of Dodong's first child. Dodong
has conflicting feelings about this event. He is in "awe" of
becoming a father; he realizes now that he is "young" and feels
shame in front of his parents, perhaps for insisting on marrying in
the first place. But it is his parents' kindness and pride that makes
him able to claim his son and hold him in his arms.
Falling Action
Dodong has many more children. Teang is worn down by
the endless work and constant pregnancy of these years.
Dodong's youthful confidence in his manhood changes
into an adulthood filled with responsibility.
DENOUMENT
• Blas, at the age of 18, wanted to marry Tona. Dodong did not object
though he doesn't want Blas to marry yet, he even tried to make Blas
think twice before rushing into marriage because he doesn't want Blas to
end up like him
• the final outcome of the story could be best described with the saying
“History repeats itself” wherein Dodong was confronted with the fact that
his son, Blas is undertaking the same journey he travelled on when he was
his age. And the sad part is he wasn’t able to do anything about it.
