BIOLOGICAL THEORIES

Criminal behavior results from a complex interplay of social and

biological factors.Social factors are a inflection of environmental
source of influence,such as socioeconomic status.The terms
"BIOLOGICAL" and "GENETIC" are often confused,in part due to
the fact that they represent overlapping sources of influence.Biological
factors are more inclusive, consisting of psychological ,
biochemical ,neurological and genetics factors.
BIOLOGICAL THEORIES OF CRIME
Some genetics theories believe that chromosomes
aberration may be the cause of crime.These theories started
in people with XYY Chromosomes syndrome or the called
"MACHO MEN"(who have an extra Y chromosomes)are
predisposed to commit crime.Research conducted in the
Scottish prison found 3% of inmates who have XYY
Chromosomal abberation. Otherwice,such persons are
present in the general population with a share of 0.2%.

1909).He altered the classical
focus of crime from legalities
and punishment to the
individual criminal.Lombroso
proposed that criminals are
biologically different from other
human beings
POSITIVIST THEORIST:

•Cesare Lombroso (1835-1909)

•Italian physician and psychiatrist
•Studied caldavers of executive criminals in an effort to
determine scientifically wether criminals physically
different from non-criminal.
BIOLOGICAL TRAITS OF BORN CRIMINAL ARE:

•Unusual size or shape of the head

•Strange eye
•too long arm
•Abnormal teeth
•wrinkled skin
•Extended jaw or Jaw bone

 ENDOMORPH
•pear shaped or round with
wide shoulder and hips

•high body fats in all

areas,including arm and tights

•slim ankles and wrist,adding

to the "funny" characteristic.
