TENSILE BEHAVIOUR OF MICRO

STEEL FIBERS ON SELF

COMPACTING CONCRETE
SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE

▪ Self – compacting concrete (SCC) is a concrete mixture that is able to

consolidate under its own weight. This concrete has a special
property that is self-compacted no compaction is needed for this
concrete. Which is also freely passes through voids and fill the void
portion.
▪ The reason for his special property is adding admixture more when
compared to a plain concrete.
▪ The flowable nature of a concrete is high and strength of a concrete
is also shown high when compared to a plain concrete
REINFORCED CONCRETE

▪ Concrete in which steel is embedded in such a manner that the two

materials act together in resisting forces.
▪ The reinforcing steel rods, bars, or meshes absorb the tensile, shear,
and sometimes the compressive stresses in a concrete structure.
▪ Plain concrete does not easily withstand tensile and shear stresses
caused by wind, earthquakes, vibrations, and other forces and are
therefore unsuitable in most structural applications.
▪ In reinforced concrete, the tensile strength of steel and the
compressive strength of concrete work together to allow the
member to sustain these stresses over considerable spans.
FIBER REINFIRCED CONCRETE

▪ Concrete is relatively brittle, and its tensile strength is typically only about one
tenths of its compressive strength.
▪ Regular concrete is therefore normally reinforced with reinforcing bars. For
many applications, it is becoming increasingly popular to reinforce the
concrete with small, randomly distributed fibers.
▪ Their main purpose is to increase the energy absorption capacity and
toughness of the material, but also increase tensile and flexural strength of
the concrete.
