Types of levers

+ Long time ago, man invented many simple machines to help him
to perform heavy tasks more easily
+ The most common simple machines are levers that were first
described in 260 B.C by the Greek scientist Archimedes.

Lever

+ It is a rigid bar that rotates around a fixed point called pivot and
is affected by an effort force and a load.

+ Resistance force (load)
+ Effort force
+ Pivot

First class lever

+ They are lever that have the


pivot between the effort force
and the load.
1- Crowbar

3- Scissors
4- Pliers

Second class
lever
+ They are lever that have the
load between the effort force
and the Pivot.
1- Nutcracker
Examples 2- wheelbarrow
