relationship bridge. The counsellor would be able to
establish rapport by certain attitudes like- acceptance
etc.

• Topics may be regarding obtaining personal information,

recently occurred events, weather, sports, or client’s
interests etc. The counsellor may start with allowing the
TOPICS client immediately state his problem instead of informal
conversation.
• Whatever client say that has to be completely met by the
counsellor and has to respond accordingly.

• The counsellor has to Explain to him that counselling

is a process of relearning and reinvestigating. Beside
this, counsellor displays warmth, sincerity, and non
ATTITUDES
judgemental structure to establish rapport.
• Counsellor also assure the clients that confidentiality
would be maintained.

The room should not be dark and light should not fall
directly on the client’s face. If his attention goes outside

• Chairs should be comfortable and same for both the
client and the counsellor.
