Design Your Dream
Garden
Task

Students will design their dream garden

using basic geometric shapes and
calculate the area and perimeter of each
section.
MECHANICS:
What to do?

• Students will sketch a design of their dream garden on graph

paper, including features like flower beds, pathways, and a pond.

• They will label each section with the shape (e.g., rectangle,

circle) and dimensions.

How to do it?
• Students will use rulers and protractors to accurately draw each
section of the garden according to their design. 4 4
• For each section, they will measure and record the dimensions
needed to calculate the area and perimeter.
• Using the appropriate formulas (e.g., Area = length × width for
rectangles, Area = π × radius^2 for circles), they will calculate the
area of each section.
• They will also calculate the perimeter of each section by adding 4
up the lengths of its sides.
4 + 4 + 4 = 12
Final
Output:
• A labeled sketch of the dream
garden showing each section
and its dimensions.

• Tables or diagrams displaying

the calculated area and
perimeter for each section.
