INTRODUCTION
 The 60 GHz MMW technology meets high-bandwidth demands,
enabling multi-megabit transmission, especially beneficial for
GIFI and automotive sectors.
 The 57-64GHz band, allocated by the FCC, offers high data rates
for short-range applications.
 Microstrips and waveguides aren’t preferred for millimeter
applications due to size and high losses.
 SIW slot antennas are favored in wireless applications for their
low profile, easy integration, and superior isolation properties.
 This paper proposes a substrate integrated waveguide cavity-
backed inverted T-shaped slot antenna with microstrip line feed
for 57-64 GHz applications. It describes SIW, antenna design,
results, and conclusions.
DESIGN OF SIW
 SIW is typically used for millimetre and centimetre
applications [5].
 In Fig.1, a simple diagram illustrates SIW. “s” denotes
the distance between two holes, “h” represents SIW
height, and “d” symbolizes hole diameter.
 SIW is derived from rectangular waveguide, as
depicted in Fig. 2. The cutoff frequency can be
determined using the equation.
Where c: is a light speed, m,n: mode
numbers and : dimensions of waveguide.

SCENARIOS AND
APPLICATIONS
 In the case of SIW, filled substrate holes eliminate
TM mode, making TE10 dominant for cutoff
 To maintain loss free radiation between
metallic vias. It must satisfy the below
frequency Is equations

STRUCTURE
 The proposed antenna designs in Fig. 4 operate at 60 GHz, using
Rogers RT/Duriod 5880 with dimensions of 0.381mm height and
25μm copper thickness.
 White denotes the dielectric substrate, white-yellow represents
copper, and filled copper circles connect top and bottom planes
via the dielectric substrate.
 Fig. 3 depicts the SIW inverted T-shaped slot antenna with a
cavity backing, sized at 10.7*4*0.381mm.
 Parameters for antenna design are detailed in Table I, with
microstrip and tapered microstrip lengths set at a quarter of the
guided wavelength.
