WHAT IS TEXTILE ENGINEERING?
Textile engineering is about

• the design and control of the fiber

• clothing and textile process, products.
• Textile equipment
• chemicals, fibers, polymers, and other synthetic
materials machinery and overall production
• Use of computers to design and manufacture
textile products.
WHAT DO TEXTILE DIPLOMA HOLDERS DO?

 Textile engineering is in enlarging demand because of diverse

cultures and traditions around the world.
It is a big research field of technology that deals with all
activities of producing textile fabric & yarns which are involved in
the process of textile manufacturing.
Textile engineering comprises process engineering that turns
around the garment, color and fabric line of industries.
Textile engineers focus on the sciences that pertain to all of the
activities within the textile industry.
They draw ideas for patterns and designs on paper or by using
computer software programs.
Textile research and development...

Textile Research Scientists, Laboratory Technicians, and Textile

Testers develop new synthetic fibers, blend fibers into fabrics
with new qualities, work on different fabric constructions, find
new finishes for better fabric performance, and test durability and
serviceability of finished fibers, yarns, and fabrics.
Textile designinig...

The designer creates surface and structural designs to be used for

woven, printed , knitted fabrics. A textile colorist takes a particular
design and renders it in one or more color combinations. A textile
stylist is responsible for determining the overall concept of the
fabric line.
Textile production...
Textile converters, production
supervisors, machine operators,
quality control inspectors, machine
technicians, plant engineers, and
industrial engineers are specific
careers in the textile production field.
Careers in Apparel Manufacturing, Merchandising
