Structure
The lymphatic system is a vital part of the human body's circulatory
and immune systems. It consists of a network of lymphatic vessels,
lymph nodes, and organs such as the spleen and tonsils. Unlike the
circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump like
the heart. Instead, it relies on muscle contractions and body
movements to transport lymph, a clear fluid containing white blood
cells, throughout the body.
Functions of the lymphatic system
1. Fluid Cleanup: It collects fluids from around cells, cleans them up in lymph
nodes, and gets rid of waste and bacteria.

2. Transporting Lymph: It moves the cleaned-up lymph from lymph nodes

back to the heart through lymphatic vessels, which then connects to the
bloodstream.

3. Immune Support: Lymph nodes act like command centers for our immune
system, spotting waste, bacteria, and sick cells and activating immune cells to
deal with them.

4. Blood Cell Production: Some parts of the lymphatic system, like the spleen,
play a role in making and storing blood cells.

5. Fluid Balance: It helps maintain the right balance of fluids in our body by
making sure fluids taken from the blood go back to it.

Impaired lymphatic function greatly affects our appearance

When the lymphatic system cannot cleanse the body, it is forced
to get rid of harmful substances through the skin, which can
cause skin inflammations such as diathesis, dermatitis, etc.

Stagnation of fluid
Improper functioning of the lymphatic system provokes stagnation of
fluid, which, in turn, leads to swelling of the face and body, the

constant fatigue, headaches, hormonal imbalance, weight gain, allergic reactions, and an increased risk of
colds and viral diseases.

Causes of impaired lymph outflow

• sedentary lifestyle;
• unbalanced diet;
• passion for salty and sweet foods;
• stress;
• tightened muscles and blood vessels,
as a result of which blood flow is
disrupted;
• iodine deficiency;
How to improve the functioning of the
lymphatic system?

1. Cleansing lymph with food. 2. Regular physical activity. 3. Monitor your emotional state

4. Do body massages 5. Try not to wear clothes that are too tight 6. Drink enough water!
