Bu kelimeler önüne geldiği cümleye isim cümleciği
yapıp,özne ,nesne,özne tamamlayıcısı ya da sıfat
tamamlayıcısı olarak kullanılabilir.

How she succeeded is obvious. (özne)

I don’t know where he went. (nesne)
This is how he described the accident. (özne t.)
I wasn’t certain whose house we were in. (sıfat t.)
 ‘’wh-’’ sorularından sonra yan cümlecikler yerine ‘’wh-’’
sorularından sonra kısaltma yapıp fiilin yalın halini
kullanabiliriz:

The problem was where to go in the middle of the

night.
 Evet/hayır cevabını veren soru cümlecikleri
whether/whether…or not/if/if…or not ile kurulabilir:

Whether ile yapılan isim cümleciği, ana cümlenin öznesi

olduğunda kullanılabilir.

If ile yapılan isim cümleciği ana cümlenin öznesi olarak

kullanılamaz:

-Whether we can stay with my mother is another matter.

(not if)
That cümleciği özne, nesne olarak ya da sıfat ve özne
tamamlayıcısı olarak kullanılabilir:

-That you are still alive is only luck . (özne)

-No one can deny that films and TV influence the public
behaviour. (nesne)
-The assumption is that things will improve. (özne t.)
-It is certain that things will improve. (sıfat t.)
 be, seem gibi fiillerden sonra isim cümleciği
geliyorsa cümleye tercihen it ile başlanır.

-It is doubthful that he saved the child from the

burning house.
-It seemed clear that the enemy would attack from
the north.
İsim cümlecikleri,ilgeç tamamlayıcısı olabilirler:

-From what you say, she is brilliant.

-The name of the book is what I have been thinking
about.
 Zaman ve yere karşılık gelen kelimelerden sonra, at
which ya da in which anlamını vermek için when ,where
kullanılır.Reason kelimesinden sonra,for which anlamını
vermek için why kullanılır.
