LAW VOCABULARY

THE LEGAL LANGUAJE
The former emanate from the legislative power of the State, the
autonomous communities or the European Union and are
complemented by regulatory norms, of a hierarchy lower than the
law, which are empowered to dictate, in the order of their
respective powers, various administrative bodies. Constitutional,
legal and regulatory norms regulate public institutions, delimit the
rights of citizens and establish guarantees to ensure their full
exercise.
 It is also characterized by the creation of adjectives by
derivations, the most common suffixes used in legal
language are: ado (defendant), al (presumptive),

CHARACTERISTIC among others.

 Use words and phrases with a formal nature, such as,

S the undersigned, before me, state of helplessness,


among others.

 It frequently resorts to repetitions and


redundancies in order to avoid ambiguities and
failed interpretations .

 It uses a cultured lexicon, as it presents


numerous specific elements, it is manifested
through the terminologies used
It has fixed structures such as invariable headings and final
paragraphs, use of the future subjunctive (example: si se
verificatione) and the future mandate (example: will pay,
receive), abundance of gerunds (example: having agreed).

Legal and juridical texts are produced by an institutional


issuer and are directed to a recipient that is often general
or not predetermined.

It means specialty language, it is a linguistic variable for


special purposes that allows technical communication
between experts. This technical language has specific
terminology and phraseology, for example laws and
regulations generally present a minimum level of
abstraction, almost only and exclusively perceptible in the
case of generalizations, although practically non-existent
in legal documents.
VOCABULARY
STATE ATTORNEY
Lawyer whose main tasks are the defense of the State in court and administrative advice.

WRONGFUL ACT
The one disapproved or prohibited by the legal system, the opposite of a legal norm or even an acquired right

Actor
Subject who initiates the lawsuit and who exercises action in a judicial procedure as a plaintiff, having the necessary legal capacity for this
purpose.

Protection
Fundamental right to achieve effective judicial protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens

Appeal
It is an appeal that is filed before the superior judge to challenge the resolution of the inferior one.

ADVOCATE
Lawyer who defends any of the parties in a trial.

CRIME
Action for which the law expressly provides punishment for the person responsible.

DEMAND
Writing that initiates a trial and aims to determine the plaintiff's claims by recounting the
facts that give rise to the action .

EXECUTION
Last part of the judicial procedure, which aims to comply with the final sentence of the
competent judge or court
.

JUDGE
Official of the Judicial Branch in charge of autonomously and impartially judging matters
subject to its jurisdiction

AUDIENCE
Act of listening to people who present, claim or add reasons or evidence in a trial or file.

JUDGMENT
Dispute that, in accordance with the laws, occurs between two or more people, before a
competent judge, which ends through a ruling that applies the law or imposes a penalty
