PORTING PROCESS
A.PORT IN PROCESS: “Recipient Operator"
means an Operator who will be providing
mobile service to the subscriber after
porting
B.PORT OUT PROCESS: "Donor Operator"
means a operator from whose network the
subscriber is porting out.
PORT IN PROCESS
 Port in is technology independent i.e
customer from CDMA can port in to GSM and
vice versa
Ex: Reliance CDMA can port in to BSNL GSM
 Port in is possible from postpaid to prepaid
And prepaid to postpaid
Ex: Vodafone postpaid customer can port in into
BSNL Prepaid
Eligibility for Port in
 Should have completed 90 days from the
date of activation of mobile connection or
from the date of last porting of mobile
number.
 MNP is allowed within circle.
 postpaid customer Should clear all the dues
as per last bill.
 Prepaid balance will not be transferred, if any
at the time of porting.
Port in Process of number portability
 Subscriber Sends the request for Porting to 1900 in the format
PORT <10 digit mobile Number> to 1900
(All operators will route 1900 to their respective Number Portability
Gateways(NPG))
 The NPG will Generate a Unique Porting Code (UPC) 8 Character Code
with first character indicating Donor Operator and Second Character the
LSA eg BX12E531- BSNL Karnataka
 The Subscriber approaches Recipient Operator (RNO) fills the CAF with
MNC compliant Port in form.

Prepaid Port in Process of number
portability
The customer care centre should raise the port in request as follows
 For prepaid through sancharsoft:http://10.19.238.34/sim4/
Preferably please use the Sims allotted for MNP activity. Before giving the SIM to customer, please
make sure that sim’s are loaded in your sanchar soft account.

 Prepaid port in requests raised through sancharsoft can be edited,


when the data not sent to billing , or rejected by Billing , or rejected by
MCH.
 Prepaid port in request can not be cancelled through Sancharsoft and can be cancelled through
Kenon FX Gui
Postpaid Port in Process of number
portability
 For postpaid through Kenon FX GUI
 The request reaches MCHA (MNP Clearing House
Administrator) through NPG
 Port in requests for postpaid can be created similar to
general postpaid creations except for the following
steps
1.Selection of MNP Port in package
2.selection of services as GSM ported postpaid KA
3.inventory entry for port in MSISDN
4.upc entry and operator selection
5.Port in charges entry, at present no charges as a
promotional scheme.
UPC validity and Port in cancellation
 UPC allocated to customer will be valid for 15
days from the date of request or such time till
the number is ported out which ever is earlier.
 A subscriber can withdraw port in request
within 24 hours of making a request for
porting.
Activation of port in number
 Port in request will be cancelled from the
gateway for any of following conditions
1.Not paid the dues in old operator
2.Not completed 90 days from date of activation
3.Contractual Obligation Violation from old
operator
 Porting process will take 7 days to complete
 BSNL will inform the port in customer the
time of porting through SMS

Common mistakes by CSR
 Not selecting MNP package
 Not selecting Ka MSISDN ported line for
entering mobile number
 Wrong entry of mobile number
 Wrong entry of UPC code
 Giving Prepaid sims to customer which are
not loaded in their sanchar soft account.
(Hint:get the stock alloted, all the dummy
sims of MNP porting to your account)
