 Was founded in 1999 by a group of


dedicated classically-trained singers, led
by soprano Karla Gutierrez as artistic
directress.
The POC seeks to develop performers as
well as audiences for classical music
performances, both forein and Filipino.
Harana
Harana
Composed of 8 singers, each of whom is an
accomplished soloist in his or her own right, is
Philippine Opera Company’s official culture
arm.
The word “Harana” is the Philippine term of
“Serenade” which is traditional form of
courtship in which a man woos a women’s
affections by singing underneath her window.

The repertoire is composed of 6 suites
each theatrically presented with
authenticity, originality and visual
excitement.

Master Class
Master Class

Based on a series on a master classes


given by the renowned opera singer
Maria Callas at the Juilliard School of
Music in New York in 1971 and 1972.
Master Class

Its primary focus is the art of dramatic


singing. In spite of all the flaws of its main
character, however, Master class, written
by a man who has been a Callas fan since
he was a teenage in high school, is a
tribute to the dedication of a great singer
and actress to her chosen art.

This is Chinese version of the Cinderella story.
The main character, Yeh Hsien, with the help
of a magical red carp who provides her with
clothes, jewelry, and a pair of tiny golden
slippers, was able to overcome her life
problems.
