What is Congruency?

Two geometric figures are said to

be congruent, or to be in the relation
of congruence, if it is possible to
superpose one of them on the other
so that they coincide throughout.
Two shapes that are the same size and the
same shape are congruent.
What is congruency for a
triangle?
• Two triangles are said to be congruent if all three corresponding sides
are equal and all the three corresponding angles are equal in
measure.
• There are 5 congruency criteria's which are:-
1) SSS- side side side
2) SAS- side angle side
3) ASA- angle side angle
4) AAS- angle angle side
5) RHS- right angle hypotenuses side
Sides: AB=EF
BC=FG
AC=EG
Sides-
Angles: A=E
B=F
ABC is congruent to EFG C=G
SAS:
If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are equal to two sides and
the included angle of another triangle, the triangles are congruent.
CA=MK (side)
Angle A= Angle K (angle) ABC=KML
AB=KL (side)
