that I could better help my learners if I make connection with the
community.
Questions:
1. As an adviser of one of the classes in Grade 1, what should you do
to gain the trust and confidence of the parents and the community?
Limit your answer to 200 words (maximum)
Answer:
Constant communication is needed in building trust and
confidence of the parents and the community. Always try to reach out
to them in every decision you will be doing in your class to make them
be aware of what is going on with their children.
2. Who are the persons in the school community that you can tap to
help you establish a good relationship with parents?
Answer:
It is essential for every school to have Parent-Teacher-Association
(PTA) because by their help, it is easier for every teacher to get
connected with the parents.
Answer:
Yes. I got hired during pandemic wherein our school was in
modular learning modality. During those time, parent’s and guardian’s
active involvement are needed. Every Monday and Friday, parents and
guardians need to go to school to get and return the modules of their
children. And because of that weekly encounter I get to know the parents
of my learners.
Answer:
Because my co-teacher is also a newly hired teacher and got hired
in the time of pandemic. We almost have similar problems and struggles.
From remedial instruction of our learners to heavy workload because of
paper works and multiple coordinatorships.
KEY TOPIC:
ROLE OF PARENTS? (K MELHUISH,
S., E. SAMMONS, P. SIRAJ –
BLATCHFORD, & B. TAGGART
(2004))
Required Task 1: Writing
The following are some common school situations. Write the strategy
that you think will best suit the situation to be able to create a good
relationship with the parents/guardians and the wider school community.
Limit your response to 100 words for each situation.
1. Claire is always absent and you never receive an excuse letter from
her parents/guardians.
Answer:
Absenteeism results to negative effect to the learner. Every time a
learner is absent he/she will be missing valuable information that you are
teaching in that day. As their teacher, it is our obligation and
responsibility to know the reasons of the absenteeism. And the best way
to do that is to communicate to the parents/guardian of the learner.
Answer:
One of an alternative way is to have them watch films or
documentaries featuring famous professionals in their different fields. By
doing that, learners will get inspired just by watching and you will not
spending even a single cent.
3. Mrs. Cruz, a parent, went to your class confronting you because her
daughter told her that you moved the child’s seat away from her friends
to make her concentrate on your lessons. Your actions were triggered by
her non submission of assignment and throwing a crumpled paper at you.
How will you explain your side to Mrs. Cruz?
Answer:
I will listen first to what Mrs. Cruz was saying politely. And after
hearing what she want to say, it is now for me to explain my side calmly.
I will explain to her why I did that action toward her daughter and it is
for the child to concentrate to the lesson because she keep on chatting
with her friends.
4. The general PTA meeting is fast approaching and you need to ensure at
least 90 percent attendance of parents. How are you going to invite the
parents to ensure their attendance and participation?
Answer:
The first thing I will do is to ensure that all of the parents are will
informed about the PTA meeting through facebook group chat and by
asking PTA officers to inform other parents personally. And I will
emphasize that their attendance is a must because the agenda of the
meeting are very importance which is about the school policies, to their
child’s progress and etc.
